The Story of the 28th Battalion - 1914 - 1917

by G. E. Hewitt

Intoduction

This is the first official history of the battalion. Published in 1918 before the end of the war, there are bound to be errors and inaccuracies due to operational secrecy requirements and the constraints of reporing history as it is being made, without access to all the records. However it is a useful account of conditions and events as they were percieved at that time.

I wish to thank Captain David K. Ratz, Archivist at the Thunder Bay Military Museum for bringing the advertisement for a copy of this book to my attention and the folks at Turner Donovan Military Books of Leigh on the sea, Essex, UK for still having it when I called.
