Additional Info: Arthur Read, son of Mary Jane Read, was born on August 27, 1881 in Holbeach, Lincolnshire, U.K. where his mother continued to reside. He attended public school and earned a class T teaching certificate. Arthur was teaching at Worthington school and living in Rainy River, Ontario when he enlisted in the 94th Battalion on November 27, 1915. He was 5'3" with grey-brown hair and blue eyes and had two toe nails on the toe next to his left big toe. Arthur joined the 28th battalion as a replacement and served in France. Mr. Read was wounded on August 27, 1918 and was discharged on August 25, 1919. If you have any more information please contact the Web Master.
