Born in Hawick, Scotland. Emigrated to Canada.He left Hawick, Scotland for Canada in 1911. He enlisted at Fort Wilton on August 24, 1914. He died of wounds at Ypres on 23rd May, 1916 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial to the missing. His parents received a letter from the Chaplain of the 28th Bn. "It was thought that L/Cpl Elliot's death was caused by heart failure as he passsed away with apparently little conscious suffering after being hit in the leg. His life was a steady influence for good and he was much thought of by his company". Photo below From when he played played for Hawick Waverley Rugby Club in 1906. Robert was a friend of John P.
